How can you know for certain that your sins are forgiven and that you are a child of God?

First, you must admit that you are a sinner. We are all, by nature sinners. On one is perfect. No one can earn a relationship with God that will carry them to heaven on their own. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." You may say, but "I'm a good person". That may be, but that isn't enough. Just as we can earn wages for our enterprise or job, we also earn wages for our sin. The wages is sin is death - what we deserve because of our sinful nature. Our sin has earned us death and eternal separation from God. By way, sin is anything that separates you from God so you can see, we all have sinned against God.

You may say, what do you mean "sinful nature"?. All of us are born with it. Watch a couple of babies or small children. They may be playing fine, then one or both will start hitting the other, pulling hair, stealing toys, being selfish .... So you can see, we have had that sin nature all of our lives. The Bible says in Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". But theres a really great part too! Because God loves us so much, He sent His only Son to pay the price for all of our sins. Jesus took our place and received the punishment in our place on the cross. He has paid our sin debt in full. "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ dies for us." (Romans 5:8)

God requires us to place our faith in Him as Savior and Lord of our lives. We are to repent and turn from our sin and follow Him. We are to believe in our heart that Jesus in the Son of God and confess Him with our mouths and live our lives in obedience to His Word ... The Bible. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10) God's Word tells us that if we call upon the name of the Lord in prayer, we will be forgiven and saved from the penalty of our sin.

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)

Being a good person, doing good deeds, respecting the right of others or joining a chruch are important, but they will not get you to heaven, or give you that special relationship all of us need and desire with God. Nor will they change your life, forgive your sin or guarantee your final destiny in heaven. Only repenting or asking God to forgive you for yours sins, asking the Lord Jesus Christ to come and live in your life by accepting Him as your Savior and Lord will. God does not want us to fail in life, to be unhappy and unfruitful. He is not watching over us just waiting for us to mess up. No, He in fact is our greatest cheerleader! He wants us to have the most abundant, happy, joyous life imaginable! He wants to give you the desires of your heart ... Not the fleeting things of life, but the deepest things he put in your heart and soul even before you were born. If He made you, don't you think He knows what you need and will make you truly happy! Just imagine, the God of the universe is concerned about your life!

You know, a lot of people think they know a lot about the Bible, and maybe about God. But knowing about Him, and knowing Him are entirely different things. Would you like to have a personal relationship with the creator of the universe? Would you like to know He is holding you, encouraging you and guiding your way? All you have to do is ask Jesus Christ to come into your life and accept Him as your personal Savior. Immediately, you become a new creature in Christ Jesus. When you as God to forgive you for your sins, He will .... And even more, they are remembered no more! That doesn't mean you won't have problems, but is means you will never face them alone.

Just pray this simple prayer

Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.

I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin.

You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.

Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved.

Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life. Amen
